The novel mural project
Novel (adj.) of a kind not seen before; fresh; new; original: a novel suggestion
Being from Kentucky and still having family there - I find myself still feeling incredibly connected to the communities there every time I go back. I love to see cities embracing public art and fostering its community through public art; but I find that the smaller cities/towns in rural Kentucky don’t have the funding to be able to afford public art. I believe that all communities deserve to have public art; and art that the people that live there, can feel proud of and connected to.
I want to be able to give back to those small towns that I spent the majority of my formative years driving through. The rural areas that inspired me to paint and that continue to inspire me.
Every year I will be donating 1 mural to a small town in Kentucky. I will work with a building owner to design something that reflects the area and also allows me to still paint my favorite subject matter of flora and fauna.
For some of these towns - this mural will be the first one. I hope to create something original and fresh so it can be enjoyed by the people it will live amongst.
